Privacy Policy
How we handle your information
This Privacy Policy explains how Cleer Money ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and discloses your personal information when you use the Cleer Money mobile application (the "App").
We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and the Consumer Data Right (CDR) framework under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this Policy.
We maintain a separate CDR Policy describing in detail how we handle banking data received under the Consumer Data Right, including consent, deletion and complaint pathways.

Information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information: Your name and email address when you create an account.
- Subscription information: Billing and subscription status (processed by Apple; we do not store payment card details).
Banking and financial data (via Open Banking / CDR)
With your explicit consent, we connect to your bank accounts via Australia's Consumer Data Right framework through our CDR-accredited partner, Fiskil Pty Ltd. Through this connection we may access:
- Your bank account names, identifiers and balances
- Transaction history (up to 6 months of historical data)
- Transaction descriptions, amounts, dates, and merchant information
We access only the data necessary to provide the App's core functionality. We do not access or store your internet banking login credentials. For full details, see our CDR Policy.
App usage & technical data
- Transaction categorisation choices ("Want" / "Need" swipes) and preferences
- App usage analytics (screens visited and feature events) linked to your account, used only to improve the App
- Crash and error reports via Sentry, including device model, OS version and error context (for diagnosing and fixing faults)
- Push notification token, if you enable notifications (used by Expo to deliver notifications to your device)
How we use your information
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features
- Connect to your bank accounts and retrieve transaction data with your consent
- Enable you to categorise and analyse your personal spending
- Send you relevant notifications about your finances (with your permission)
- Process and manage your subscription via Apple's in-app purchase system
- Diagnose crashes, respond to support requests, improve the App, and comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your financial data for advertising or profiling. App usage analytics are linked to your account, used only to improve the App, and are never shared with advertisers.
Consumer Data Right: your rights
Cleer Money accesses your banking data under Australia's Consumer Data Right framework, as a representative of our CDR-accredited partner Fiskil Pty Ltd. In relation to CDR data:
- You control your consent. Withdraw at any time through the App, Fiskil's consent dashboard, or your bank's CDR dashboard, with no penalty.
- Data minimisation. We only request the data necessary to operate the App.
- Data deletion. CDR data is deleted within 7 days of consent withdrawal or account deletion, except where law requires otherwise.
- No on-selling. Your CDR data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for marketing or profiling.
- Accredited partner. Banking data is retrieved via Fiskil Pty Ltd. See fiskil.com for their privacy policy.

Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal information. We share your data only with the service providers needed to run the App, and only to the extent required:

Data storage & security
Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure (hosted in Australia where available, otherwise in AWS data centres). Our security measures include:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
- Encryption of sensitive credentials at rest (Supabase Vault)
- Row-level security controls on all database tables
- Access controls limited to authorised systems
No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
How long we keep your data

Access, correction & deletion
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or out-of-date personal information
- Delete your account and associated data at any time (in-app: Profile → Delete Account)
- Withdraw CDR consent at any time without affecting your ability to continue using the App
- Complain if you believe we have mishandled your information
Contact us at support@cleermoney.com.au to exercise any of these rights. We will respond within 30 days. If unsatisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
Children's privacy & changes
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and notify you of material changes via the App or email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
