How can we help?

Getting started

Cleer Money is a personal finance app for Australians. It connects to your bank account through Open Banking (CDR) and lets you categorise every transaction as a Want or a Need with a simple swipe. Over time, you build a clear picture of where your money actually goes — without budgets or spreadsheets.
Not yet — Cleer Money is currently iOS only. Android is something we'd love to explore in the future depending on demand.
Cleer Money is built specifically for Australians using the Consumer Data Right (CDR) framework. The bank connection feature only works with Australian banks. The free tier's CSV import can be used from anywhere, but the full experience is designed for Australian users.

Bank connection & security

Cleer Money uses Australia's Consumer Data Right (CDR) — the same open banking framework regulated by the ACCC. When you connect your bank, you're authorising read-only access to your transaction data. We can never move, transfer, or modify your money in any way.
We support major Australian banks that participate in the CDR framework, including the Big Four (CommBank, ANZ, Westpac, NAB) and many others. The full list of available banks is shown when you connect within the app.
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard 256-bit encryption. Cleer Money only has read-only access to your transactions — we can never initiate payments or transfers. You can disconnect your bank and delete your data at any time from within the app. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
Absolutely. You can disconnect any bank connection at any time from the app's settings. Once disconnected, no new transaction data will be fetched. You can also choose to delete all previously imported transaction data.

Using the app

Each transaction appears as a card. You categorise it as a "Want" (discretionary spending like dining out, entertainment, or impulse buys) or a "Need" (essential spending like rent, groceries, or bills). Over time, this builds a personalised breakdown of your spending habits.
No worries — just tap the undo button to reverse your last swipe. You can also go back and re-categorise any transaction from your history at any time.
Smart Rules let you set an automatic categorisation for a specific merchant. For example, you can tell Cleer Money that Woolworths is always a "Need" — and future transactions from that merchant will be auto-categorised, saving you time.
Spending Targets let you set a monthly dollar limit for your Wants. Cleer Money tracks your daily pace and projects whether you'll stay under your target by the end of the month, so you can adjust your spending before it's too late. This is a Pro feature.

Subscription & billing

Cleer Lite (free) includes CSV import, swipe-to-categorise, 30 days of history, and streak tracking. It's a great way to try the core experience before upgrading.
Cleer Pro is $6.99/month or $69.99/year (saving ~17% annually). It includes everything in the free plan plus bank connections via CDR, unlimited history, spending targets, full insights, Smart Rules, and support for up to 2 bank connections. A 3rd bank can be added for $1.99/month.
Subscriptions are managed through the Apple App Store. To cancel, open your iPhone's Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Cleer Money → Cancel. There are no lock-in contracts — you can cancel at any time and your Pro features will remain active until the end of your current billing period.
Since subscriptions are processed through Apple, refund requests need to go through Apple's support. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Account & data

You can delete your account from within the app's settings. This will permanently remove all your data, including transaction history, categorisations, and bank connections. Make sure to cancel any active subscriptions through the App Store first.
Data export functionality is on our roadmap. For now, the Insights screen gives you a comprehensive overview of your spending patterns over time.
